PAINT SPECIFICATIONS FOR ORGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS

Paint specifications vary depending on their intended use. There are well established formats used to specify coatings for the architectural and heavy-duty maintenance markets, but a structured format does not exist to specify coatings applied in OEM processes.

Many manufacturers may list required performance requirements, e.g.; 1000 hours of salt spray, 5B Adhesion, 80 psi impact, etc. Seldom however, do the PERFORMANCE requirements take into consideration the MANUFACTURING PROCESS, e.g.; line speed, dry times, application method, etc. And, almost never does a specification address the REGULATORY requirements such as: VOC permits, HAPS, waste stream, etc.

SPECS4paint.com goal is to provide information to help OEM plant managers, design engineers, safety directors, purchasing managers, and others, to create a PAINT SPECIFICATION that links the PROCESS, PERFORMANCE, and REGULATORY requirements.
