My career in the paint industry started 45 years ago and today I’m still amazed at what a paper thin layer of paint will do.

Whether applied as a liquid or a powder, your product finish is integral to the perceived value of your product. The product finish is what the end user sees first, touches first, and photographs. Conversely, your product finish may cause the first complaint, nullify all other demonstrations of product performance, and be the trigger that opens your customer up to talk to a competitor.

Don’t overlook the opportunity to use your product finish to differentiate yourself from competition. Don’t limit your self to generic

If you don’t have something positive to say about your product finish then often description of product finish is often limited to identifying the type or source of the coating. “It’s a 2-component aliphatic polyurethane” or “it’s a gloss red we buy from XYZ”

our process of defining the problem This is based on my experience that procesoften develop solutions without clearing defining the problem. you have to start with a clear definitionthat unless based on my experienceMy purpose in building this website it to offer small and midsize product manufacturers a process to create effective specifications for the product finish.

A framework is in place to develop specifications for many market segments. The military, architects, road engineers and most large companies have

development of systems, which today I call processes, that provide solutions.

The purpose of this website is to help original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM’s) develop more effective specifications for their product finishing process.

I link the performance is on the process of applying paint to decorate and protect manufactured product. I have observed that manufacturers place a high value on the finish being to their product. And yet, often fail to develop meaningful specifications that link all of the steps required of the finishing process. It is likely that the benefits derived from this website will be different than my original idea, but that’s OK. Nevertheless, the content being developed for the is designed to support the following:

  • The integration of product finishes into brand strategy

  • Improve production throughput while meeting the expectations of the end-user.

The perceived value of a product is intimately connected to its finish and packaging. The end user’s first impression translates into brand loyalty when it is backed up with long term performance

Delivering a great first and lasting impression doesn’t happen by accident, it requires a plan, it requires a specification. .
